Montepulciano d’Abruzzo D.O.C. – 15 Bottles Ordering Unit

CHF345.00

The Montepuciano d’Abruzzo wine of controlled origin is the second best-selling Italian table wine in the world. To have the DOC appellation it must consist of at least 85% Montepulciano grapes and a maximum of 15% other Abruzzo grapes. We have decided to propose a wine in purity: 100% Montepulciano, trying not to alter the original taste of the grapes with a stay in wooden barrels. Light wine, with a deep purple color, almost gloomy despite being clear and bright, it offers hints of ripe fruit but also soft spices, without missing distant memories of coffee and bark.

A famous legend, also told by the Greco-Roman historian Polybius states that the Carthaginian leader Hannibal (247 a.C. – 183 a.C.) made his army drink and heal wounds with this wine produced in “Abrazzo” and washed his horses with it to protect them from disease.
